As a co-founder of Therrien Couture, now known as TCJ, Jean-Luc played a key role in the firm’s creation and development. His involvement helped shape the firm’s identity and support its growth over the years.
Throughout his career, Jean-Luc built a strong reputation for handling complex matters, from negotiating and arbitrating agricultural product marketing agreements to structuring international licensing and distribution agreements for technology products and services, as well as handling numerous shareholder litigation matters. He was also called upon to work on several insolvency matters and to carry out transactions for companies operating in a wide range of sectors, both in Canada and abroad. This diversified experience gave him a comprehensive understanding of the various challenges facing the business world. Business law was central to his practice, and he was particularly known for his expertise in drafting complex contracts in the agri-food and technology sectors.
Jean-Luc also handled several intellectual property law matters, including the drafting of commercial agreements, the preparation of licensing agreements, and assisting clients with applications for the registration of intellectual property rights.
Retired from legal practice as of April 1, 2026, Jean-Luc Couture remains closely tied to TCJ’s history as one of its founding pillars.
