Mercedes has developed a practice focused on securities law and capital markets. She has built a diverse professional background, holding positions in law firms, the Office of the Legal Counsel and Solicitor General of Argentina, as well as the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance. These experiences have given her a deep understanding of legal advisory work and its practical applications across various contexts, strengthening her adaptability and her capacity for creative problem-solving.
With over nine years of experience teaching constitutional tax law and public finance at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and the Universidad de El Salvador, Mercedes has developed a passion for conveying complex legal concepts in an accessible and engaging way.
After relocating to Canada, Mercedes completed a Master of Laws (LLM) in Canadian Common Law at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University, a Law Practice Program (LPP) at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), a Osgoode Certificate in Mining Law, as well as the Intensive Course in Canadian Securities Law and Practice and the Osgoode Certificate in ESG, Sustainability, Climate Risk and the Law. Her admission to the Ontario Bar added a distinctly Canadian perspective to her legal expertise.
She is recognized for advising Canadian and international clients on cross-border corporate and securities law matters, including capital markets transactions, regulatory compliance, and mining and natural resources matters involving Canada, Latin America and Africa. Her practice includes transactional execution and securities analysis, informed by experience in both government and private practice.
